When I think Italian food, I think pastas, pizzas, lasagnes and the likes. My mind does not start with desserts when someone says ‘Italian Restaurant’, but whenever Positano Risto is mentioned in my circles, the first thing that comes to mind is the Tiramisu, so that’s where I will start this blog entry.

Say hello to the highlight of my visit to Positano Risto – The Tiramisu. It is mildly sweet, creamy, and had just enough coffee flavours – not too strong, and not too mild. It has that signature rich coffee flavour in between layers of soft biscuit entirely soaked in coffee and cream… ah I looooooooovvvveeee it so much #ravingreviews and #highlyrecommended.

I am not a coffee drinker, and neither was my friend that came to dine with me for this visit, but we both loved it so much! If you’re making a visit to Positano Risto, please don’t miss this one!

Now on to the rest of the meal that we actually ate before the Tiramisu, starting with the Positano Signature.

The Positano Signature is this beautiful pizza made with pointed edges closely resembling the signature 8-point star that often present in islamic art and decorative items. Each of the pointed edges has fillings including cheese, which was a really nice surprise! I have not seem any other restaurant making their pizzas this way, making it the most memorable item on the menu, after my favourite Tiramisu.

This pizza is also #ravingreviews, especially because of the freshness of the arugula withe very bite. The crispy edges complements the soft sourdough pizza base, and cheesy fillings. Will I order this again? Yes. Definitely yes.

I am actually going down this list in order of my favourites going first, but I hope you understand that it was really really hard to order this list because each of the items was unique in their own right – from the luxurious-tasting Tiramisu, to the home comforts of the Beef Lasagne in the photo below!

I’m not lying when I say that that the immediate thoughts that came to my head when I was chowing down on this Beef Lasagne was… my non-existent Italian grandmother. This dish was so comforting, it made me feel right at home at Positano, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a real grandma in the kitchen whipping this up for everyone ordering it.

The sheets of lasagne was soooooo soft, in between the tomato-ey layers of beef. 10/10 ravingreviews

Here’s a close up for you to see the generosity of ingredients, especially the cheese. Would I order this again. YES 100%

The next dish is a plate full of Calamari that I can still remember the the taste and the crunch as if I just ate it yesterday. You have to see the video to hear about this crunch that Im talking about. This calamari was really crunchy on the outside, and the inside was completely soft, none of that chewy nonsense that usually comes with squid.

Also on the same plate is zucchini – which I say intrigued me more than the calamari did! The zucchini had the same level of crisp, and it was totally juuuicy on the inside. I would recommend this to someone who says that they don’t eat vegetables because they don’t like the taste. This Zucchini next to the calamari will change their mind.

The lamb shank looks sooo good, but does it taste as good as it looks? Yes. It does.

This lamb shank is fork tender so you don’t have to bother with using a knife for this. it is served with silky smooth mashed potatoes, and a rich savoury, fatty sauce that is FULL of flavour. The thing that made this dish one to remember would be that bits of green on top – the gremolata. It provides that perfect zing of fresh herbs that cuts the rich flavoursome sauce, making you go back for more and more until the whole plate is done.

Well, now that you know the name of the green bits (gremolata), don’t be surprised if you find yourself asking for more of it midway through this dish. I don’t know if chef will give you more gremolata, but trust me, it’s worth you shooting your shot for it! 10/10.

Ending the visit with the theme of comfy homey flavours would be the Seafood Aglio Olio. I dont need to say how generous they are with the ingredients, you can see it for yourself!

The first flavours you will taste on this dish would be the signature flavours of the seafood, and herbs. Subsequently, there’ll be this mild heat that will slowly creep up your taste buds. It’s homey, comforting, and unique at the same time, for sure.

I ended my meal with their refreshing drinks, the Lychee di Menta, and Mango Tango. Both are sweet, and refreshing and nice, but if you told me to choose, I would have the Mango Tango again for sure.

On top of the good food, I want to also make a mention that Positano Risto is conveniently located near Masjid Sultan for your prayer needs. Their location also has a spacious level 2 (which I didn’t know of before this visit) so feel free to make a booking for your entire family, colleagues and/or especially if you are looking to spend time with your close friends over a meal.
