On Twilight’s 20th run this 19-21 July 2024, I want to do something special. Im perusing through all my photos from past Twilight to reminisce all the Iconic food from vendors that have joined in the fun at our events over the years that have been either so unique, so devilishly good or so comforting that I can’t quite stop myself from having their food over and over again at every Twilight.
For this weekend, I have not yet decided if I’m going to try food form vendors who are not at all on this list, or repeating all my favourites. You’ll have to follow me on halalfoodhunt to find out!
As usual, in no particular order other than probably order of discovery, with more recent ones on top. So, scroll all the way down for the OG Twilight Vendors!

30. Pee-aw By Japrique
You need to remember 2 drinks from Pee Aw from Japrique – the Mango Mojito and Apple Strudel – both were #ravingreviews and #highlyrecommended. If you are adventurous with drinks, give their other menu items a try, like the Banana Latte, or the Durian Latte, if it’s in season. I tried all of them, and I’ve named my favourites, and you should too!

From Sweet Vanilla Delight, I discovered the most perfect swirl bundt marble cake – JUST LOOK AT THE PHOTO! It looks even more perfect in real life. It looked good and tasted good as well! It was just perfectly sweet, soft, airy and paired well with Hot Teh O. It was one of the very few cakes in my radar that did not last very long in my home. Every time someone took a slice, it will be a big one. Haha! Same with light and crunchy cornflakes cookies, the marble cake was also #ravingreviews and #highlyrecommended. Save her contact, you may want to order from her on other occasions.

28. All the Cheesecakes at Paparch SG
On Instagram, all their cheesecakes are snapped up almost immediately upon announcement, so, when they decided to join us at Twilight, I could see that demand in real time, in the form of long queues at their booth. Truly. These are the best cheesecakes that you can find in Singapore. I do have another favourite brand for cheesecakes, so let’s just say the top position of best cheesecakes in my books is tied between Paparch, and another brand that I shall not mention here.

27. Chocolates and Bakes from Nova Bakehouse
One of the first in Singapore to create the viral and very trending Kunafa Chocolate is Nova Bakehouse, that is probably the leading reason for the long queues at their booth! Helmed by a team that seems to be able to always get behind a trend really quick, you will want to keep tabs on Nova Bakehouse for their latest creations. If you see something trending online? They probably got it.

26. Bubur Hybrid with your favourite toppings
Bubur Hybrid is a creation from the team at Bubur Hybrid (in Singapore). It is bubur lambuk at the bottom, topped with different traditional dishes that we love, like Sambal Kangkong, Ayam Kesom, Daging Kicap, Telor Asin, Belado and so much more! I didn’t know I could love this one, but I did, with my favourite topping being the Sambal Kangkong, and Ayam Kesom!

25. Spicy Scallop Sushibake from Raisu Good
I love sushibake, and I’ve tried sushi bake from MANY sellers – and the one from Raisu Good, is really VERY good. #ravingreviews Maybe its something about the rice, or something about the ratio of rice to topping which I find has a good balance, or maybe its the flavours of the toppings itself. Maybe. I dont know what it is, but my favourite is the spicy scallop, but I’ve never tried anything from Raisu Good that wasn’t good, tbh! Don’t think, just buy.

24. The Briyani from KINGS Catering
If you want Indian briyani that’s rich in flavours, herbs and also tend to be spicy… then you NEED to try the briyani form KINGS Catering. #ravingreviews good from the first time I tried them last year at The Wedding Upmarket until now! They’ve been consistent with their food, and at Twilight, they also bring other dishes which are just as good, to the event. I found myself enjoying their Gulab Jamun and also tandoori chicken on several occasions at Twilight too!

23. All the macarons at Macarons SG
Before I met Macarons SG, I’ve always thought that macarons had just one flavour – sweet. But with Macarons SG, I discovered that it didn’t have to be like that. Each of their macarons are true to their flavour, more than they are sweet. I don’t know how they make theirs, but trust me. they’re good, worth the calories and worth every cent.

22. Peanut Butter Cake and Kek Lapis from Wonderland Sweetscape
Kak Salwah is a highly experienced wedding cake maker for many many years, so it is no surprise that of all the items at her booth, my favourite will be her cakes, with my favourite being the Peanut Butter Cake – forever and always. She also has kek lapis which is forever moist and rich in flavours – no matter if it is prune or chocolate or anything in between. I’ve also tried her butter cakes, and her recent most incredible creation, the Wonder Crumble. YOU NEED TO TRY THAT AT LEAST ONCE.

21. Inari, Takoyaki and all things Sushi at JP Kitchen
When my friends ask me if the food at JP Kitchen is nice, I will always say… they serve Japanese food, with flavours that will cater to the malay tastebuds. So expect extra creamy sauces, with some of their food having a tinge of spice here and there. Good? Yes. Comforting? Extra yes. I have my favourites from her too, and that includes the takoyaki and her rendition of inari (like the platter on the right!)

20. All the Boms and Buns from Boms n Buns
I am most fond of Boms and Buns for all of their Artisan Buns – more so for savoury ones than the sweet – like the one on the right (in photo). For the life of me, I can’t recall the name of this savoury bun, but… OMG. it was SOOO GOOD! Buttery bun, Cream cheese fillings and topped with greens (I don’t want to say what green in case I get this wrong) but yes, #ravingreviews. On the left was the Kunafa Bun – before today’s kunafa croissant, kunafa chocolate, kunafa cookie, Boms n Buns already did their Kunafa Buns, and they were so Good! Im not sure if these 2 are still on the menu, if even if they are not, I’m sure the rest are just as good because they come from the same team!

19. All the churros from CHULOP!
Brands that start around the same time as I did, and are still around, will always have a special place in my taste palate. One such brand is Chulop. Back then, chulop was selling their churros with just dips, and we get to choose what dips we wanted to go with our churros, coated in sugar and served in petite paper bags. Today, if you were to look at Chulop’s menu range, it is soo different! Now they have chulopops, and the longer churros are now served in boxes and so many different types of tasty toppings! Make them part of your twilight makan schedule whenever we’re in session, okay?

18. Teh O Ais Mint from Jom Teh Tarik
Every event needs a version of Jom Teh Tarik – while everyone is busy creating new drinks, Jom makes sure that the OG comforting staple drinks are always there! Teh Tarik, Teh O, and especially my favourite Teh O ais mint. I remember, in one edition of twilight, I had 4 big cups of teh o ais mint to get me through the entire 3 days of work! Haha! It is my favourite drink through and through.

17. Baklava Rings from Artisanal Persia
Artisanal Persia joined in the fun at Twilight with her Baklava Rings, filled with chocolate and nuts. What Struck me most about the flavours of these Baklava rings was the shiny ring exterior that gave the Baklava Rings that mild, yet much needed sweetness – till today, that’s the most distinct crispy sweetness that I still remember whenever I see her Baklava rings at Twilight. Since then. I’ve tried all the types of Baklavas that Sarah creates…. and I’ve always gone back to the one filled with chocolate. #ravingreviews #higlyrecommended! It has been so amazing seeing this brand grow. and be stronger with every event.

16. Everything at Mee Volcano
Mee Volcano is a creation by a mom in her home cooking for her children. Her children loved it so much, they told their mom that she should sell it, because people would love it too! Mom then said “But it’s just campak campak!” – referring the fact that she just throws what she likes into the pan to make this. Eventually, the children convinced the family, and now we can share the love for these mee volcano at Twilight! Both warm and comforting, and I can’t choose which I like better between the goreng, or the soupy version. I buy a different one at every Twilight. Haha! Fair warning – these are spicy (and hence, mee volcano) #musttry

15. All the lekor at JOM Lekor
I remember the first time I saw Jom Lekor at twilight serving up their balls of keropok lekor. I was SO skeptical because I like my lekor thin and crispy. THIN. AND. CRISPY. not balls of soft nonsense. So arrogant was I….. until they served be a bowl of it for my own trying. I was sold in just ONE bite. I have no idea how they make their Lekor, but theirs is crispy on the outside, suuuper soft on the inside… and remains good even after i bring them home and reheat them in the air fryer. Once I established that the Lekor was good, it was time to try all the sauces – and I do mean all. Strangely enough, I liked the one that was topped with chocolate… and followed with the one with chilli kicap. Hehe. If you have not tried these, you absolutely must. They are worth the long queues.

14. Dengdeng Bulldogis from Frank-on-Wheels by Bana Kitchen
When you see Frank-on-wheels, expect all portions to be generous, from the bread, to the franks, to the toppings, and ESPECIALLY the sauces on top. Of all the different items on their menu, my favourite is the one topped with Deng deng, and… Mac n Cheese. Visiting Frank-on-wheels is a one stop shop, so you can also get drinks and snack items too! They’ve been participating in Twilight for so many runs, it feels almost incomplete if they weren’t around. 🙂

13. Lambshank Padang from The Padangton!!
The Padangton made their debut into the halal food scene in Singapore with the rendang padangton, which is essentially the beef wellington given a very malay twist with the beef rendang. Renditions of these were later created including the one with the lamb shank (in photo). After several runs of Twilight, The Padangton then opened their own restaurant at 2 Jalan Klapa – I was so happy to be invited to try out their restaurant selections, haha!
Since then, we realise The Padangton creates and launches new items at every Twilight! One of these creations were the rendang tacos, and in the photo above Nasi goreng with their rendition of beef yakitori. Their rendang is really the signature for their brand so go ahead and try anything on their menu that says ‘rendang’ on it, without any hesitations at all!

12. Swedish Meatballs and Flaming Cheese Rendang Franks from KREAM SG
The first time I tried the franks from KREAM SG, I tried all of their flavours in one sitting, and the Rendang Flaming Cheese came up as my top favourite. The most surprising thing about that tasting session was that it was the first time I didn’t mind the crunchy, juicy onions on top – because I actually mind onions being in all the other foods that I eat. That was when this one really stuck with me. I love it till this day.
Some months later, KREAM SG created their next signature dish, which is their Swedish meatballs. The meatballs are good, the brown sauce is good, and the cranberry sauce is also good, served with smooth mashed potatoes. Better than those from IKEA. I #highlyrecommend this all the time!

11. Crispy fries with Creamy Onion and Spicy Korean Sauces at Frités
My first love at Frités was the creamy onion sauce that topped the fries and beef…. but when they launched the spicy korean sauce, I fell MADLY in love. I would get it at every Twilight, and when Twilight is not in session, I would go to their shop at Arab Street to satisfy my cravings. Spice rating on the spicy korean is 3.5/5 and that would be my highest recommendation from Frités!

10. The Tandoori Burger is everything at Mahmud’s Tandoor
The best Tandoori burger you will find, which also won the title of Best Burger title at Halal Awards in 2020! Crispy patty, Juicy Chicken, with all the savoury tandoori spices that you can think of. All the taste nodes will end with a zing of a minty sauce. #ravingreviews. Get the combo box (if they sell it) Otherwise, just the burger would also be enough to do your trip to Twilight much justice.

9. Anything with the Charcoal Burger Buns at Ashes Burnnit
Gourmet burgers at hawker centres is a thing with Ashes Burnnit, and if my memory serves me right, they were probably the first! After getting to know them at their Hawker centre and coffee shop outlets, I was also really happy to see them join in at Twilight! If you ask me for my favourites from Ashes Burnnit, it’s gonna be quite a sticky answer, because the thing I love most is the Charcoal burger bun – which comes with almost all their items on the menu!

8. Unagi Sushibake from Yodaebak
I knew about Yodaebak’s long queues before I managed to even taste the food. When I did, I found it to be #ravingreviews good, with my favourite being the unagi. The first time I tried them was when they were at Twilight’s Downtown East edition. Back then they only sold sushi bakes. Today, they’ve also included fizzy drinks in the menu, so it becomes a one stop shop for you if you don’t want to be queueing 2 times here at Twilight. Hehe! Try the unagi. Really sedap.

7. Sushi Taco from Home of Sushi
Home of sushi has always been part of Twilight for several runs, most noted for the Upeh Noodles and sushi chiller with so many different types of sushi to choose from. However, their most notable creation yet has got to go to the Sushi Taco! SUUUPPPPPER crispy, savoury, with a good balance of crunchy, saucy, and soft delectable rice. The price of each of the sushi taco at $8/$10 might make you second guess it, but trust me, you’ll forget all your doubts once you take your first bite. #MUSTTRY

6. Ikan 1986
Back in the days before Covid, Ikan 1986 already had their super long queues, but because I was always ‘at work’ producing content during Twilight, I could never join the queues. So I would post on my IGS asking my followers to buy a set for me if they were in the queue. I never thought anything would happen…. until someone actually turned up at my work station with a bag of otak-otak from Ikan 1986. Haha! Those were the days. I love their otak-otak until today. #ravingreviews and #highlyrecommended. My favs being the scallop fillings!

5. Krumbz n Kraves
Krumbz and Kraves are usually at the corner to accommodate the long queues. They serve reaaaallly tasty mojitos and their deep fried Argentina Squid and Shihlin Chicken. From their entire menu, my favourites are the asam boi drink, and the deep fried argentina squid #ravingreviews – which are super crunchy, and worth every penny and every calorie. They are going to ask you if you would like yours spicy or not, both are good, and I often switch between the two. I literally have to stop myself, otherwise I would be having this every single event. The Argentina Squid is highly addictive. You have been warned.

4. All the Kueh Melayu & Indonesian snacks at Ratu Lemper
When I first got to know Ratu Lemper, she only had Lemper. More than 5 years later, Ratu Lemper became my go-to for all my traditional kueh fixes. My favourite items from her selections every Twilight would be the Pulut Rendang (served with sambal) Kaswi Kaya and Bingka Ubi – hence they in my photo! Haha! All #ravingreviews and highly recommended. PS. My favourite lemper is the spicy chicken lemper! I would tell you to make this one your last stop at Twilight for take-home food, but they sell out rather quickly in the daytime, so plan your round up wisely!

3. Chicken Satay from Satay Ummi
Satay Ummi will always have a special place in my heart, especially because of the kind and beautiful Lydia Izzati. Why? Because I remember her running her booth with her baby in her baby carrier running up and down, making things happen… while I was doing the same, with Muadz in my baby carrier. Since my first try of their satay until now, I gotta give it to the Satay Ayam (cos it’s the softest meat and the marination is just perfect!), and the sweet and nutty satay sauce. #ravingreviews. Budget space in your tummy for Satay Ummi, you won’t regret it!.

2. Beef Noodles from Yossakul’s Thai Kitchen
Their booth always looks so humble, and that’s how authentic Thai food is always being sold. I remember Yossakul Thai being one of the first few stalls that I came across at Twilight. However, I didn’t manage to try their food until way later. The top items that are imprinted on my mind as ‘sedap!’ are.. the beef noodles #ravingreviews, mango stick rice and thai milk tea. Try if you haven’t, k!

1. Takoyaki drenched in sauce from Yummy Takoyaki
I would never forget my first experience with Yummy Takoyaki with all her Takos drenched in sauce. I had sent my husband to stand in the incredibly long queue for me, because I would not have managed to do it by myself. The fillings have always been generous, and I also remember that they were probably the first to serve Takoyaki with cheese.
When I thought they couldn’t do any better, they launched their half tako that’s served with an entire baby squid, idako, on top. (see left photo!) The best way to enjoy Yummy Takoyaki is immediately upon receiving it. If I was going to have Yummy Takoyaki this weekend, I would be bringing some chilli padi to spike my bowl because I love all my food spicy. 😋
